Grave site of Mary Ann Shaw Duncan Grave and burial site of Mary Ann Shaw Duncan: "Family Mystery" - from Pat (g g g grand daughter) of James Duncan of Adelaide, and formerly of Rothesay, Isle of Bute, Scotland, paid for the lease of Mary Ann Duncan's grave. James came to Adelaide in 1859 as a 19 year old and it is said that he had a relative living in the Adelaide area. |

Laura Sophie Duncan 1830-1903 Headstone and burial site: Laura Sophia Duncan sailed from England to Australia with her mother Mary Ann Duncan and sisters, Emily Hales and Marian Elizabeth, on the "Navarino". Aboard this ship was a couple, John and Hannah Gaignet who remained friends with the Duncan family and this is probably why Laura is buried in this grave with Hannah. |
